The INECO psychiatry and neuropsychiatry group tackles psychiatric pathologies and neurological pathologies with behavioral squeals. Currently, there are various main research lines. One of them focuses on the study of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults, a field that is led by INECO in Latin America for its valuable contributions to understanding cognitive and behavioral aspects of this condition. Another research line focuses on stroke and traumatic brain injury. This group has been developed more recently by the occupational therapy department, assessing life quality, level of participation, and usefulness of work rehabilitation programs in these patient populations.  Currently, the group is also dedicated to studying changes in personality in the behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia. More recently, the line of research concentrating on Aspeger syndrome in both youngsters and adults has been strengthen, focusing in the characterization of the executive profile and social cognition of this condition. Members of the INECO research lab have also published important research works on the cognitive and motor aspects of bipolar disorder.

Other lines currently being researched by this group at INECO are:

1. Cognitive aspects of bipolar disorder, severe depression, and schizophrenia

2. Disease representation, drug adherence and temper in bipolar disorder

3. Characterization of dysfunctional cognition in adult ADHD: validation of the cognitive-behavioral model

4. Social and economic impact of Tourette’s syndrome and chronic tics in adults (in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin)

5. Acute stress and depression
